Introduction to Mentoring in the Smathers Libraries Online
Welcome to our new mentoring training program, designed to develop and support current mentors and mentees as well as anyone interested in engaging in the mentorship program in our libraries.
Session 1 will provide an overview of the Libraries’ new mentoring pilot series; establish guidelines for discussions and participation; review effective mentoring practices; offer mentors and mentees an opportunity to share experiences and perspectives; and contextualize the mentor-mentee relationship within the broader context of the Libraries, Department, and University.
Presenter: Erin Gallagher, Chair of Acquisitions & Collections Services at the University of Florida Libraries.
Erin received her MLIS from Florida State University, and she has worked in E-Resources and Collection Management since lucking into a position in collection development consulting for a major academic library book vendor. Erin is passionate about library/vendor collaboration, the future of open access collections models, and empowering library workers to become more confident negotiators. Talk to her about books, travel, Jeopardy, and polar exploration.
