Knowledge Justice: Disrupting Library and Information Studies Through Critical Race Theory - Chapter 2

Knowledge Justice: Disrupting Library and Information Studies Through Critical Race Theory - Chapter 2 Online

The Libraries’ DEIJ committee invites you to join us in a book discussion for the year 2022! We will be reading Knowledge Justice: Disrupting Library and Information Studies Through Critical Race Theory, focusing on one chapter each month.  The book is available for free online (see above link to catalog).

The first discussion, on the Introduction of the book, will take place January 27th, 3pm EST, via Zoom. Each subsequent chapter discussion will take place at the same time each month (the fourth Thursday of the month at 3pm). You do not have to participate in every discussion; please feel free to skim the table of contents and choose the sessions that most appeal to you. We will be skipping Chapters 7 and 13.

Call for Participants: Besides participation in the discussions, we are also inviting individuals or units to volunteer to facilitate a chapter discussion in order to get a wide range of perspectives. Facilitators are responsible for leading the discussion of their chosen chapter and developing discussion questions that could be put in a Padlet or Mentimeter poll. Padlet will be used for asynchronous participation prior to the discussion session and Mentimeter will be used during discussion for real time, anonymous participation. Members of the DEIJ committee are available to support this program and all who participate. Please reach out to Kestrel Ward (gryphlet@ufl.edu ) if you are inerested in leading a session. Twanna Hodge has offered to provide training sessions for anyone who would like to facilitate a session and is interested in her assistance. You may reach out to her directly or include your preference in your signup email.
